Devastated Hotels, Travel Agents Desperately Await Promised Relief

The tourism industry has been deeply affected by the Covid-19 pandemic with many hotels and travel agencies suspending operation due to the lack of guests. The occupancy rates have also fallen sharply and thousands of planned visits to Indonesia have been cancelled. The government unveiled a Rp10.3 trillion (US$722 million) stimulus package in which of the Rp298.5 billion will be channeled to airlines and travel agents. However, the package has not been realized yet.
