The Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS) reported Indonesia’s economic growth in the first quarter of 2020 reaching 2.97% year-on-year (YOY) and -2.41% compared to the fourth quarter of 2019, the lowest since the fourth quarter of 2001. Previously, the government projected economic growth in the first quarter of 2020 to reach 4.7% (YOY). This contraction is directly related to the negative effect of Covid-19 pandemic.
